Hi, I have recently been prescribed Clarithromycin antibiotics for a chest infection. I can’t take my Statins (Simvastatin 80 mg, 1 per day) with these antibiotics. I will be taking them for 2 weeks and if I get further infections, I will be taking them for another 2 weeks (recently diagnosed with Bronchiectasis). I just wondered if anyone has ever stopped Statins for this length of time and if so were there any problems or did cholesterol levels rise?
Thank you.

I think the person you should be asking about this is your doctor. We are not medically qualified and you have clearly been prescribed antibiotics for a good reason. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If you are worried, perhaps you can ask your surgery about this. They may be able to get your doctor to ring you.

Sorry not on statins - probably best to ask your GP
