The pens ar good out of the fridge for 30 days ish. So assuming when you go away you will be half way through your current pens, just take new pens out of the fridge with you as spares, write the applicable use by date on them and that way, if you don't actually need to use the spares while away you can just put them somewhere youbwill remember at home to pick up when the current pen runs out or take them into work to leave as spare in your desk drawer. But remembering to chuck after 30days out of fridge.
They do come with an information leaflet in the box - it's worth unfolding it having a quick check through. Because different pens have different time spans - I don't know what insulin you are using, it could be 28 days or less for your pens. If you check the leaflet, you'll know where you are with your pens. Sounds mega dull, but it is the thing that's keeping you alive so might warrant a brief glance at it at some point
Store unused pen cartridges in plastic carrier bag with no holes in it and submerge the bag with cartridges in sink or bidet filled with cold tap water......This helps to keep insulin cool in hot temperatures. When going out, put pen in Sandwich bag and wrap a cold face flannel rung out using tap water and wrap that around the pen to keep it cool.
