Hi
I am on the Accu chek Spirit Combo pump (haven't got the bm kit linked to go with)
I have been struggling with my blood sugar levels since before Christmas. Normally ny sugars are below 11. I eat pretty well I think?! cereal & banana for breakfast, sandwich/cereal or soup for lunch, tea can vary a bit (roast, venison, fish pie)
Numbers seem to be fine one minute, then through the roof the next, i'm active (got 5 dogs) regularly out walking
Last night went to bed on a 6, didn't have anything to eat after tea(roast pork, carrots & cabbage, don't bother with potatoes)felt fine, got up this am & my sugars were 15.8, gave 3 units, took dogs for a walk, an hour later 14.8 so slowly coming down, then 40 mins later, wanted something to eat, so tested & back to 15.8 aaargh, so frustrating, changed my site (canula was in leg, changed to the other leg- using Tenderlink 13mm) just don't understand it, sometimes it can take a while to come down, the other day in my leg, was 17, gave 2 units & within an hour was down to 6
Over Christmas period haven't eat anything too silly to upset my levels, had some jacobs mixed crackers & that's it, always try & have stuff I know I can count ok
Friends & family are saying i'm looking pale, Dad says he can just see it in my face(not looking right)when numbers not so good, making me feel tired & cheesed right off, want it back under control
Any ideas/suggestions please

You may have an underlying bug / infection. On Monday and Tuesday of this week I felt a bit off - just a bit of a stomach upset really but my numbers shot up to between 13 and 15. Had to put my pump on spells of 160% to get them down to below 10. I adjusted it down in the night to 120% and tested every few hrs. This seemed to work and by Wednesday the bug had cleared and my numbers were back to normal and back on my usual pump basal/bolus rates.

Hi Jess, you don't say how long you have been on a pump for.
But basically if your numbers are all over the place then do a basal test. That's the only way you will find out what is going on
Why haven't you got the handset ie the the pump wizzard?
Cannula's in leg will prob bring numbers down at a rate of notts as you are using them a lot if you have five dogs.
I always find dif body sites need more or less insulin than others.
The amount of carbs in your breakfast are probably not helping either , Perhaps skip the banana and replace with something else a lot lower carb.
Cereals are known as sereal blood sugar killers and bananas come a close 2nd so combining the two together is a  to your body.

I Have been on the pump for 3 years
I am looking at getting the bm kit that is linked to the pump, spoken to my DSN about it & she reckons it may help me fine tune it a bit more ( I test alot & like to try & keep diabetes under control) will give my DSN a ring & see if we can get the ball rolling
Sometimes leg works well, other times not at all, I have used my arm occasionally, also use backside & lower back
Like I say i'm active enough, that frustrates me really, as I would have thought exercise should help
Did a bm about an hour after I posted this am & was 11, i'll see how it comes down, may change my site, trouble is I don't want the insulin suddenly catching up & having a hypo

Yea I have 1 Weetabix & banana(bit of canderel) for breakfast & normally am fine on it, find Shreddies are the worst, they can really send my numbers up!!
Also have Oats so simple porridge-get on with that ok with numbers, like to try & eat right as i'm active if you know what I mean

Have your tried a dif vial of insulin that's just another option to try.
Also perhaps try a different type of cannula or even try a dif box, just in case the box you have does have a problem. Would a dif length of cannula help?
Lets hope your DSN can help as well.
