I've been type 2 now getting on for 4 years and whilst initally trying and then rebelling I had got to the stage where i was fairly controlled (generally between 6-8).
Then about a year ago I began to feel quite depressed initially I think thanks to my doctor's general attitude and the fact he was trying to pressure me down the insulin route which i don't really want due to my job, driving etc.
Anyway i probably spent the best part of the next 6 months not really in the frame of mind to adequately control my levels.
So recently I began to feel abit more like me and started knuckling down to get back in control, I started to low carb again with initial success (from 12+ down to mid 7's) then came down with a cold and my levels started to rise a little.
A week and a half ago my father in law passed away and since then even eating approx 30g of carbs a day i'm lucky if i get a reading under 12 even in the morning.
So my question boils down to this is this a normal result of stress or should i be thinking there's more to it and I need to see the doc even though that feels like a last resort?
Stress can have a major impact on bs levels. I know that with everything that has been happening in your life it is not very helpful to say "try and relax and destress" but if you can try to take it easy. Illness also affects your bs levels. Just try and keep going for a little longer but if your levels don't begin to come down soon perhaps you will have to visit the GP.
It sounds like we have had a mirror image year, apart from my Doctor being ok!
Like you, I've had to put up with a bit of late, and let's just say there's a bit of snow on the rooftop..
I have noticed that my BG levels rise sharply when I get stressed, which is pretty often at the mo.. I've took a week off through feeling grotty and my levels have come down ish...
