Hi,
Iv had Diabetes Type 2 for a number of years but it's only recently that I have seen a Dietician who has recommended a low carb diet. I have downloaded the Free 7 Day Budget Meal Plan but was wondering what I could use instead of coconut milk and chillies as I really don't like them. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Mother_Bear19 , welcome to the forum.
I don't know what recipe you are referring to, but if you don't like chillies, just leave them out.
As for the coconut milk, if you don't like it, what about just using a different recipe?

The basics of low carb and type 2 diabetes are very clearly explained in this article, written by one of our members: https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html
And there is this thread where we share what we eat, it might give you some useful ideas: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today-low-carb-forum.75781/page-2988

Good luck!

Hi @Mother_Bear19 & welcome to the forum

Is it for a particular recipe or just in general? A replacement for chilli’s could be quite difficult as they are a particular ingredient on their own, maybe a mild curry power or paste if you can fit it into the recipe? The coconut milk I suppose you could use a bit of double cream or Greek yogurt. Like I say it will depend on the recipe. If it’s for say a Thai curry then you can’t really substitute as that’s what gives the Thai authenticity, but you could make an ordinary mild curry with the subs I mentioned
