Hi guys looking for a wee bit of information

I have been feeling **** all week with a heavy cold and sore throat. My wife bought me some "sugar free" Halls menthol sweets for a sore throat.

I had a look at the packet and it said something like 95g of carbohydrate per 100 grammes of which 0.9 sugars.

So as a type 1 diabetic can I take these, with such a high carbohydrate count. Confused.com

so long as you don't eat a full packet in a few hours or so you should be ok, Ive had them and not noticed a huge jump in my BS levels

I'm unfamiliar with the product, but it sounds like the sugar substitute is still carby, although when it comes to sweeteners, not all of them affect our bloods. I'm afrain you're going to have to look at the probably minute print on the pack (or ask Dr Google) for the sweetener name, then ask Dr Google again if it is likely to raise your bloods.

If the sweetener is sorbitol, or any of the names it goes by, just be careful not to have too many or you may find yourself dsitracted by a fascination for sanitary ware. (i.e. - spend an extraordinary amount of time in the loo!).

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Ingredients:
Sweeteners (Isomalt, Aspartame, Acesulfame K), Flavourings, Colours (Anthocyanins, Paprika Extract)

Pack size is 32g

The majority of substance is Polyols

Even though 95g out of 100g is "carbs" these carbs are polyols with no effect on blood sugar.
