Thank you such good positive advise . Just seem to be stressing about what to eat for the best now. Getting me a bit down as thinking all i can eat is salad veg and meat . Not too found of meat. Missing wholemeal toast as ive reduced my carbs loads i think thats whats helping keep sugar levels down . Hoping it is still single figures this afternoon . Once i see a dietician as well will make it a bit more clear xDon - Nobody wants to take meds really, but to be honest, your body needs time to recover from the strain of having those very high numbers for a while. You'll feel better, rested and rejuvenated in time, but give it time.
The meds you are taking are helping your body deal with the fuel you are eating at the moment, so it's likey if you stopped taking your meds you could see the numbers get higher again. It wouldn't necessarily happen in a few hours or a day, but over a very short time.
If you are diagnosed as a T2, then over time you may well be able to trim back the meds, and maybe even, like some be able to become meds free again. If you are finally diagnosed as T1 or LADA, then it's likely your medication will be altered, rather than stopped. How and when would very much depend on the exact diagnosis and how your body reacts.
Diabetes is a long game. I'd probably advise you hunker down for a bit longer, before looking at radical changes, unless directed by your medical team, of course.
In the meantime, it looks like something is working, so stick with that positive. Being in single figures after where you have been is a big change. Well done.

Fish, especially oily fish, eggs, dairy products including full fat cheese and cream, avocados, olive oil and nuts are all good.
