There has been half a packet of Cadbury's Flakes in our fridge since I was diagnosed in January. It is still there. I am now keeping it until I can celebrate a near normal HbA1c test. It will be my prize.
Being devil's advocate here, but why would you want to celebrate reaching a goal by eating something that causes the very problem you have been trying to solve?

I'm not suggesting your diabetes is caused by an over-indulgence in sweet things, but eating sugar (and carbs), is what raises your sugars, and therefore HbA1c.
Ah but you see, I am one of the unusual ones because I failed to mention I don't have a sweet tooth. I can take chocolate or leave it. I have never craved it and don't miss it. That's why it's still in the fridge since January. So it wasn't chocolate, sweets, cakes or biscuits that got me here but starchy carbs. Had it been a plate of chips staring at me it would have been a different matter. I think we all deserve a treat for hitting a goal, especially one that isn't craved for.
Devil's advocate #2: If sweet isn't your thing, is it really a treat, to have something you can take or leave?
Sorry, I'm being awkward there.
Better than yesterday - lol! Hard to give away clothes because it's like removing a safety net. Am determined not to go back. Although I did this on slimming world once before and went from 14 stone 10 to 12 stone 7 but then went up to 16 stone 1 so nervous! Are you having a good day today Scandi?
Yes, I know what you mean, but it's different this time, you have found the right diet. I have always kept my old clothes as a safety net, so maybe I would be better without a net at all. I am getting a bit nervous about SW tomorrow, 'cos the weightloss is slowing down now.Better than yesterday - lol! Hard to give away clothes because it's like removing a safety net. Wonderful! Serves the ******* right! Who says revenge isn't sweet!I've got a cream egg in the fridge from Easter 2012! Not sure how good it would taste, but since I can't get anyone in the family to eat it (the know how long it has been there) I'm thinking of 'donating' it to the nurse who gave me advice on the eat well plate!!!
Just had to buy a mini chocolate fudge cake as kids hassling me in Sainsburys. Not fair - lol!Yes, I know what you mean, but it's different this time, you have found the right diet. Yes I am a great believer in a treat as a reward ....we don't always have to be deprived .....Ah but you see, I am one of the unusual ones because I failed to mention I don't have a sweet tooth.
