Sweats!!!!!!!

Sorry I can't help you as to why you are experiencing the head sweats. I have them and sometimes my hair is as wet as if I had been in the shower. The doctor hasn't given me an answer. I do take simvistatin for lowering cholesterol and it is one of the side effects but I was experiencing this problem before I started on the tablets. Be nice to get to find out the cause.

Ive started sweating sometimes in bed, some times i wake up in the night and its so bad that the matress is wet and so is the duvet its like ive wet the bed!!! im on glargine at night also humalog after meals plus tegratol for my neuropathy in my feet, simvastatin for my cholestorol, ramipril for my kidneys, thyroxine for my thyroid gland.

any suggestions please!

hi dazza, check your BG, it sounds like its to low.

I get the sweats most days, im told it nuropathy attacking my central nervous system, it leaks through my clothes so i only wear black or white.I do take pro banthine which get be used for poor bladder control but their side affect is reduced sweating but the worse bit is, the more i worry about sweating in public the worse it gets.So im the 1 wearing a bikini in chilly weather.

Hi, I also have this, its called hyperhidrosis and its caused by autonomic neuropathy according to the doctors. I also found that changing my insulin from humalog and glargine has made a little difference to the severity of it. It is restrictive as I also can only wear white or black tops and can't wear jumpers as I get too hot! So i'm always catching colds in winter lol
I now take levemir and novorapid. Hope this helps a bit.

Ive had this in be a few times too,bed soaking,bs was very low at time,keep an eye on that,im not really one to give advice yet but could you eat a little of slow realease carb before bed? if that helps?

Stephen I know you mean well but to anyone who has posted and knows that they already have autonomic neuropathy, <b>please DO NOT eat a carbohydrate snack before you go to bed.</b>

Autonomic neuropathy is caused by too high a level of sugar over too long a period. If you increase your sugar levels even further during the night you could be doing irreparable damage.

One of the problems of autonomic neuropathy is that it damages your body's temperature control, so severe sweating can often occur as a result of this. Those who have mentioned they have this condition seem to have mentioned it in a somewhat matter-of-fact way and I wonder if they realise that
a) It is extremely serious - it is your first warning that your nerves are at the acute damage state and if you don't get your blood sugars under control, you will start to lose limbs. This is not an exaggeration.
b) At the acute stage it is reversible within a few weeks or months if you can normalise your blood sugar. Once it gets to the chronic state it is irreversible.

Dennis, dont think anybody under estimates the damage that can be caused by high blood sugar levels. Mine has always been extremely difficult to control 'brittle' they called it. So nobody is being matter of fact its just that sometimes we have to make the best of what life throws at us otherwise we'd all be very depressed!
I have a multitude of complications like others here but life has to go on.

My Late son suffered from sweats particularly when eating- he had been a diabetic for about 27yrs
and had diabetic neuropathy- this can cause a problem caleed Gastroparesis-- Lazy Stomach.
and one of the symptoms is Gustatorial Sweating. Because the stomach does not empty on a regular basis- ie sometimes a delay this also causes problems wit6h control of blood sugars and you can also get bouts of constipation. I suggest you do a look up on the internet re this problem/
Anaesthesia, morphine etc can also cause this problem.
Another problem nmy son had was chronic Pancreatitis- this was shown on his post mortem results.
Yet his GP notes showed no indication of previous acute attacks- he had shown symptoms but was not diagnosed
