I just wanted to share my concerns about artificial sweetener, mainly Aspartame based sweeteners, I have been diabetic since I was 12 and am now 20, I have always used Aspartame based sweeteners and had many foods and drinks containing Aspartame. I have recently found out there is many possible health problems that can be caused by Aspartame, for example headaches, change of mood, abdominal pains and cramps. There is many more symptoms that vary from person to person. I feel I have often suffered from the above symptoms which no clear reason, I have usually put them down to my diabetes and high blood glucose etc but when I have tested my levels have been fine. I am now going to stop using Aspartame based sweeteners and try and cut out all foods and drinks containing Aspartame and see what happens. Any thoughts or questions would be much appreciated. For more info on Aspartame based sweeteners and health problems check out http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-sweeteners.html, or just put Aspartame based sweeteners and health problems in google.
Many Thanks

HiJaime
I use Xylitol, Splenda and a little fructose. Any of these is pretty free of side effects and tastes OK, but too much fructose isn't good for the Triglyceride levels.

Thanks for your reply, I have mainly been using Aspartame based sweetener for cups of tea, will look into the alternatives you suggested, if not Ill just have tea unsweetened and no diet soft drinks!

Jaime
just take your tea without sweetning, it tastes MUCH better

I agree with Hana, give up the sweeteners and you will not notice after a couple of weeks!!!

I use Zsweet, which can be bought through the main part of this site.
