I have been looking for toothpaste in the UK that does not contain any type of sweetener. I have made my own toothpaste for now. I recently came across some research that shows sugar substitutes can lead to cases of insulin resistance. I have eliminated sugar from my diet, and eat a carnivore diet. But I am finding that other products I use, like toothpaste allows these chemicals to creep back into my diet.

I’ve never considered if these could affect blood sugars but I’ve been getting a spike up to 9-13 most mornings now, even on the days I’ve skipped breakfast. I do drink decaf coffee with milk and have been following a low carb high fat diet for the last 6 weeks. Any ideas?
I long since have been very careful with my selection of food and indeed toothpaste due to the impact of sweeteners on my BG levels. I mentioned it on my DAFNE course, but it was poo poo'd, as a possible cause of foot on the floor! It made sense to me it could be a problem, absorption through the gums is meant to be the quickest way to deal with a hypo and many toothpastes contain concentrated sugar alcohols. Anyway I use Arm & Hammer.
