I'm type 1 with very good control, blood pressure under medication but well controlled and I exercise regularly. Today I did a 5 mile walk which is normal but towards the end I noticed my right hand was swollen and my arm was aching. I was taking my glucose dosage during the walk as normal but this was strange, when I sat down after walk to rest my hand returned to normal in 10 mins and no residual affects. Has anyone had this? If so what is causing it and what do I need to do to stop it or do I need to see my DSN?

Any arthritis in that limb that could cause inflammation and swelling ? Fluid tends to accumulate at the lowest point when your hands are at your sides and causes stiffness in the hand and wrist.

Hi @Gillogi, I wonder whether you were wearing a rucksack which might have been restricting circulation even slightly to your right arm compared to your left?

Hi no, I was wearing loose clothing and not carrying anything.

I did have tennis elbow a few years ago and there was pain in my elbow at the time so I presume it might be linked to this. Thank you I'll get this checked.
