Morning people!
I tested my blood at 7.15am this morning and it was 7.7. I then stayed in bed for a bit longer, got up got ready and drove to work. I've not eaten or drank anything yet and re-tested my blood and now it's 8.9?
Why? Do you think this could be something to do with my background insulin? I use Lantus and inject 22unite at 7pm. I have got a sore throat also but don't feel 'ill' with it.
You are probably experiencing something called the Dawn Phenomenon.
Dawn Phenomenon effect occurs when hormones are released by the body, causing the liver to release glucose. The dawn effect therefore describes abnormally high early morning increases in blood glucose: Usually abnormally high blood glucose levels occur between 8 and 10 hours after going to sleep for people with diabetes
Sometimes people find eating a high fat low carb snack just before bed can help - eg a piece of cheese and/or a handful of dry-roasted peanuts
