hi I am a t2, I was started on humulin m3 on Friday, am getting on OK with injecting over the weekend. Am seeing the diabetes practice nurse again today. Does anyone have any advice regarding using humulin m3. Also practical problem how do you do an air shot with your pen when out in public
Thanks
Jo
Hi @jocat44
humulin m3 is a mixed insulin meaning it has fast acting and long acting together in a mix that you will most likely take twice a day.
with this type of insulin it is pretty important to have a routine and stick with it.
this means eating at the same times ( as a Type 1 I followed this routine for about 14 years )
it is also really important to rotate your injection sites to avoid developing Hyperlipotrophy over the medium term.
Hi. Good luck with your insulin. Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon.
I use Humulin I and Humalog. When out in public I generally do my air shot into a tissue/serviette. I haven't had any issues so far.
