i sometimes READ that I've been tagged but not sure how I get notified. Silly question I know but I don't seem to get any alert type thing. I just stumble upon a thread that says I've been tagged
 
Do you access the forum via the website or an app? On the website I get a notification next to my username near the top right of a page.
 
If you scroll down the list on the left as you hover over your user name at the top right you come to alert preferences. If you click on this you can see if there is a tick in the box for an alert when someone mentions you in a message.

Haha. I would never ignore you!!

I must be dense as I'm still not finding it. I'm on an iPad. I went to my name on the right and found Alert preferences. Everything is checked. Do I have to go there each time I log on? I also saw I had one alert and hit it and it went away without telling me what it was. Help!!! Lol
 
On a tablet browser when I tap the notification a bar appears from the right and I then have to tap the flag button at the top right to see the Alerts list.
 
I'm on an iPad too and I can't even find my username on the right or anywhere else for that matter
 
No you don't have to go there each time you log on, you should get a green flag every time you are tagged. @Kristin251 . I only use a PC though so you will need an ipad expert

Edit: I might tag you all day long to see what happens lol
 
Mine is not like that. It is red at the top. On the right side of the bar is just a tick and three dots...neither of which show my username when clicked
 
I don't see user name either. Anywhere. I do have my my profile pic and name but no alert things under it. Then a white envelope and green box.
However when I hit the green box it shows all the people that liked, commented, mentioned me but no specific alerts to a specific thread.

How strange it looks different for everyone. The colour difference is just I changed from Red in the settings. I tried a different browser (Safari) just to be sure and it looked the same for me still.
 

@Kristin251 - Are you using the App on your iPad or Safari? I don't care much for the app as an experience, but I found the alert system a bit iffy via the App.

Could be worth trying the browser if you're using the app, and see if there's any difference?

I see the green box with numbers in it but as I said it doesn't distinguish between tags and everything else.

I appreciate all the help.

It's all notifications, except for PMs, so there is nothing else to see, unless anyone else knows differently.

If touch the number briefly, the most recent notifications will appear as a drop down menu, so you needn't navigate away from the page you are on to know whether you need react or not.

It's a 2 step process for me on the tablet compared to a computer browser - 1 tap doesn't bring up the alerts straight away.


 
Tap the three red bars next to DCUK forum and your notifications will be in there

 
Just realised the picture didn't show the bars - top left next to the words DCUK

 
I have no three red bars.
I must be very technologically challenged!!

I'll just muddle through but I am not ignoring anyone if tagged. !!!

Sorry - three white bars - when tapped they give you the screen showing your notifications that I posted first
