Hi all,, T1 had a tattoo today hoping it heals relatively quickly, anyone had any trouble with the healing process.

I’ve got loads, never had an issues with healing. I use Bepanthen nappy cream to soothe it.

My latest was three or four weeks ago. Follow the rules - this is a great site for advice: https://authoritytattoo.com/tattoo-aftercare/

The most important rules are: don't pick (and it will get very, very itchy - this is normal - don't pick). Shower, don't take baths or swim until you're healed.

As I say, the site has great advice and with good hygiene there is no reason your tattoo shouldn't heal in the usual way.

Hi @Gaffer type 1 ,

No issues with the healing.

(Thanks for the tag @Diakat , I do have a biomechanical style piece situated technically in a location only my wife is privy to a view.)

Focus on BG control as part of your after care. Take hypo treatment with you & test regularly during the session.
Don't be afraid to stop the session for a brief test. (I'm sure the tattooist isn't afraid of blood.)

It's tempting to flash it during this lovely weather we're having right now. But keep it out of the sun till healed...

Just noticed you already got the ink.

.... & don't forget to post the picture!!

Sorry for butting in as a type 2 but my buddy just had a new tattoo and the tattooist said bepanthen is no longer advisable and it is better to use Preparation H, just saying do some research if you want to.

I think every tattoist has his/her own preference. I'm a cocoa butter woman myself (you'd never guess to look at me), but the studio I went to for this one likes Hustle Butter or Tattoo Goo.

Got a few, never had an issue with healing. Used Bepanthen and Preparation H to keep the healing moist and found both to be ok at the job. Just make sure you don't scratch it when the healing starts as if you pull a hard scab off it can pull the ink out (been there and done it not a pleasant look or a nice conversation with the tattooist)

Sorry i didnt mean Bepanthen hasnt always been good in the past, I have used it myself, just that they have recently changed the ingrediants,

“they increased the use of lanolin which irritates the skin around a fresh tattoo.”

From a quick google search

Agree that bethanthen have recently changed ingredients so no longer advised for helping with the healing! I was told to use aqueous cream and I got some from poundland and it healed my large tattoo in a week, and all my others have taken weeks to heal so I'm gonna start repping aqueous cream!

I had a tattoo in January my levels would have been very high and it healed in about 10 days, I used Tattoo Goo as the stuff they suggested did not agree with me
