All I can tell you is that I am worried sick about him, I see his two older non diabetic cousins doing all sorts of normal teeanage stuff and I wonder how on earth he's going to be able to do the same normal stuff. You know, hanging about with his mates, drinking, parties, sleepovers, sports, gigs.............
As a family we are very new at this diabetes mallarky and I don't want my son to feel it's just his problem. As I am a natural control freak I do worry that I will still want that element of control during his teenage years and I'm equally as sure he will want me to butt out.
Matt starts secondary school in September and whilst on the one hand I think this will be so liberating for him, on the other hand I can't help but worry what it will bring.
Sorry to waffle but I thought you might get an insight in to the turmoil we parents get ourselves in to over our kids, I would like to bet your dad's no different to me or the next parent.
Kind regards
