Test when you feel ill - gp horror story

WHY - Because individually they only describe a part of me

Exactly !Diabetes is only a part of me,not the whole person but I am a diabetic by medical definition and the 'label' just does not bother me.

Everyone's views are important on the forum ,just as they should be in life.

Sue,

your summary makes my point

I am not a Diabetic nurse,I am a nurse with diabetes!

I would just hate any newbies who may come along to have to make the psychological acceptance that they are no longer fishing enthusiasts or amateur pilots or football enthusiasts or globetrotters
or whichever "label" is closest to their hearts....

NO

Now you have diabetes - so forget all that old nonsense you are now diabetic!!.

Dont get hung up on my observations, I am a bit paranoid by nature .......

Just because you're paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ,Steve!

Seriously though we all carry labels around with us all through our lives. To me this is just another one along with 'wife' 'mother' 'nurse' 'warrant officer' etc and all the other labels I have had through life.

Although this is derailing this thread here is a link to a thread we have had here on that subject before.

Thanks for the support guys (and the random tangents ^_^)) Will be ordering the new strips in a week or two so I guess that'll be crunch time.

The good news is Im actually working in a GP practice at the minute but didn't want to register there because of the general awkwardness it may bring, but I've had plenty of support from the people here so if my current GP decides to keep living in the past I could register here instead and am assured a steady supply of test strips
