Testing blood sugars

Hi and welcome
I'll tag in @daisy1 for the intro to how a lot of us control our blood sugar with diet.
In my view yes you need to test but in a very structured way so you can see which food is good for your blood sugar and which cause it to go up.
Your doctor (if you are in the UK) is however highly unlikely to provide you with a meter or advice on how to use it which is where a community of people with T2 diabetes comes up trumps.
When daisy posts have a read and then check out some of the areas of the forum and ask any questions you may have.

Hello and welcome,

Yes, you must test. A meter will show you what your food choices are doing to your levels and give you the chance to change things that need changing. Without self testing you have to wait 6 months or whatever for your next HbA1c with no knowledge of what is happening on a daily basis, and no opportunity to change things.

Yes it is a good idea. If you are not on certain medications you may have to pay for it yourself. Please ask if you need help with purchasing a meter.
