Hey guys hope this makes sense and someone can put some light on it.
Okay I am diet controlled type2 and on diagnosis my HbcA1 was 75 it went down to35 and at my last check up in Jan it was 32 so I am still diet controlled and everything seemed good.
However I also have to balance out the fact I have Anxiety and due to the fact I try and stick to the low carb ( almost non ) diet I don't tend to test has much .
However to cut a long story short tonight I wasn't feeling so good so decided just to check my BG and washed my hands to do so , I am left confused I had my dinner at 5.30 so this is almost two hours ago I took blood from one finger and it said 5 . 7 ??? I for some reason thought I would double check ( the Anxiety ) and checked with a finger on the other hand and it said 6 . 5 now I assume I should be happy with both readings in any way or form but I don't understand how one finger can be 5 .7 and the other 6.5 ????
Hope this made sense .

Hi Sharon Anne
it makes perfect sense -- the meters have a +/- accuracy factor ( 10% or so ) and allowing for this the readings you got are fine.
Don't worry

btw -- been testing 8-10 times a day for the last 15+ years as a T1 so reasonably sure

Thank you , my Anxiety makes testing nerve recking . Wished I could enjoy the fact my HbcA1 is only 32 but I keep expecting something to go wrong . I now life my life with such discipline I mean I really do.
Only treat I allow myself is a glass of red wine in the bath and I even worry about that yet lovely people on here have told me its fine.

Hello Sharon Anne,

I think sometimes we can be so disciplined and tight with our control that we do not allow any short falls whatsoever !

I need to treat myself every now ant then. It's good for me mentally.

We're not Olympic sprinters having to attain top speed every time we run. We're human beings.

Allow yourself a little slack every now and then and enjoy it !

Don't allow this illness to take over your life to the point of obsession.

Be "good" rather that "exceptional" and give yourself that "slack" you deserve !

Do remember that blood glucose is also dynamic. It's constantly changing. So with that in mind and meter errors, you'll be lucky to get the same readings. Also a different finger =different blood sample. A1c of 32 is wonderful. My diabetes nursy bit my head off at 40 for being to good.I told her I Was disappointed. I was aiming for 35 !.

Thank you .

Thank you i guess I shocked myself not sure how I went from HbcA1 of 75 to 32 within a year .
I was just so scared on diagnosis . Well done you for getting your levels down too .40 is not to be sniffed at .
