can anyone advise how often i should test my blood sugar, when i was first diagnosed(about 8 yrs ago) i had a log book & was doing it about 5 times a day, since then i was told by the nurse at one of my diabetic reviews that i didn't need to test my blood that often so i reduced testing to once a day which i admit is still a bit of a chore so i have only been testing every other day or so!
I was told that the only times i really needed to check my blood/sugar is if i haven't been taking my Metformin or feel unwell,i would be interested to hear views on this forum from other members!

Personally, my testing is to do my dead level best to never have to use metformin or any other management drug. I have gotten to the point now where I have a pretty good idea how I will react to certain foods so my testing is diminishing over time. However whenever something different occures in my life(stress/activity) or diet, I want to see what occurs. Depending.... I test from 1 to 7 times a day. Seven rarely happens any more though.
