@drewster45 - Hi. Sometimes bloods can get contaminated in the Laboratory, or maybe there was not enough blood taken.

I can relate to how you feel, for myself it is test, test, test and yes more tests - Monday I have an ECG and then home monitoring of blood pressure - just to add to the mix.
Sorry you feel so low about it but it seems to be a common reaction, I certainly felt similar, what you are possibly facing is a change in lifestyle if diagnosed type 2.
Try and enjoy your weekend and wait to see what the diabetic nurse has to say and keep in touch with the website as there is plenty of support here, along with excellent information.
Try to stay positive and don't let it get you down.

I heard that blokes are the worst for this since once captured they feel like they have been put in prison and hanker for the good old days of freedom. Yes, there are tests. They don't all go wrong and have to be repeated and after a while they will probably only be needed once every six months or so.

It is a bit depressing but the HCP's are trying to help even though you might think that some of them aren't. It wasn't them that gave you diabetes either.

If your results turn out to be fine and no treatment is necessary then all those test will be done as part of your annual diabetes check-up, they do these checks to make sure that we stay in the best of health.

@drewster45 When the nurse took the bloods for my diabetic review she commented that my veins seem fragile and maybe collapsing from all the blood tests I have had over the years not only for diabetes but for my other conditions so at first she was unable to draw blood and had to revert to an older technique, so yes once on the tread mill of tests it's hard to get off again. Don't mean to be gloomy but it's a fact of life and we just have to adjust and adapt chin up.

Drewster, I'm sorry you're feeling so down at the moment, but things do get easier. Honestly!

When I was diagnosed, I was about to go overseas for a few months, so for me, all these additional tests and annual tests were crammed into less than 3 week. At times I felt I just wanted "them" to leave me alone! However, moving forward, things did get better quickly.

To be honest, what's probably going on is they are "baselining" you and all the things they like to measure, so that they know your starting point, and can make assessments along the way whether things are getting better or going in the wrong direction for you.

Once I got that raft of stuff out of the way, and I began to get the hang of how to take this diabetes lark by the throat, I now only have my bloods done once a year (unless I need some for something else, and that's rare). I have my eyes checked, which takes all of about 15 minutes, and that's about my lot.

I don't know if you have any other conditions to contend with, but many of us have done pretty well and managed to get our diabetes under decent control, so we see our Medics, just once in a while.

So, my suggestion to you would be to just get this phase over and done with, look after yourself sensibly, and you won't be too troubled by all these medical interventions.

I had to have a repeat HbA1c test when I was in the process of being diagnosed, a nuisance but I felt that the inconvenience of having to be double checked was better than being mis-diagnosed...

It's a pain in the neck and can be stressful, but at least your diabetes is being monitored.

Robbity
