working too hard!! Ungratefulness
I just want to say thankyou to every one and the advice and support offered on this forum. I just came from the doctors being told that my HBA1C was 6.8 down from 8.6 3 months ago. If it was not for the low carbing advice (that only this forum gave me) I would still be seeing the 10.2 I was at 6 months ago!!!! I know I still have a way to go but I am starting at a gym this week and hope to get into some regular exercise. It was so nice to be told I have sunk below 7 finally. Next target is under 6, so... thankyou. Low carbing is definitely the way to go!!!!

Have a great day!

Wonderful, goanna!
Keep it up, and spread the word!

All the best,

Well done Anna - that's a great result.

Well done, I couldn't agree with you more. Pity my consultant doesn't feel the same way. I had my hba1c done a few days ago and it came back as 5.5. I was delighted until my consultant rather smugly asked me how many hypo's I was having to maintain and hba1c that low. I truthfully answered "none" and then he asked for my meter and plugged it into the computer (he obviously didn't believe me). He saw a few high 3's (which are def not hypo for me) and frowned. He also said I was too low on waking in the morning (lowest was 4.2 and the rest in the 4's) and told me to reduce my evening insulin. If I wasn't so much of a lady you can imagine what I would have said to that!!!! Suffice it to say I WILL NOT reduce my evening insulin as I have worked too hard with the low carbing etc to get those nice am figures. Have to admit though that I felt a bit deflated when he told me that I must still be honeymooning because I was so well controlled and that it would get a lot more difficult to control once the honeymoon was over. He was so bloody patronising that I didn't even bother getting on my low carb soapbox. What a pain in the backside bloody know it all he was. Came away fuming, but shrugged it off quickly when I realised that the most important person to please with my diabetic control is ME.

Keep up the good work, it is definitely worth it, even if you have to fight some of the health professionals all of the way.

Caitycakes x

Doctors hate being wrong about ANYTHING - especially Diabetes/lo-carbing! The thing is - each of us SHOULD become more of an expert than our treating GPs. We have to live with it, and they don't.

I just wish that they could TRY to understand what we have learned through lo-carbing, instead of just dismissing it as un-healthy because that's what they were taught years ago...

Thanks for all the replies. i must say that my doctor was so excited and said that a lot of doctors get mixed up with Low carbing as opposed to no carbing. She seemed just as excited as I was at the results and said that my cholesterol was even lower than the last test and it has always been OK. It is quite interesting when I know that the fat content in the foods I eat has not diminished in any way. I've just got to get into the exercise now and I am sure I will see better results as well as feel fitter. We all went out to Thai for dinner last night to celebrate so the BG's are up a bit this morning but I will get back on the wagon today!!!
Thanks again,
Anna

Fantastic goanna, well done and good luck with the exercising!

Good to see yet another doctor learning from their successful patients!

Congratulations to the both of you!
