Very impressive , I particularly liked his HbA1c targets.
'Having a HbA1c at 5.5% or below with minimal hypoglycaemia is the holy grail from managing diabetes.'
The John before and the John after are so different, pink skinned before, much darker skin afterwards and so much muscle on show too !! I agree with Tim, he is very disciplined.
Lots of really interesting information there, thanks for posting this @tim2000s
His approach to bolus calculation accounting for fat/protein/fibre (http://www.nakedathlete.co.uk/naked-me/naked-me-type-1-diabetes-management/type-1-diabetes-counting-war-cho-vs-fpu-vs-fii-***/) seems appealing.
The move from potato quality camera and washed out lighting to flexing under strong overhead lighting can be quite misleading. See for example these 'transformation' photos taken an hour apart.
It's a minor point though - no doubt the guy is seriously lean! - just that the before/after difference can be easily exaggerated in this sort of image.
interesting article. Though re the lipid changes, these may not need such big diet changes. I halved my carbs, am still on 120-150 CHO per day, increased olive oil substantially, and also increased vegetables, salads and fruit, seeds and nuts, and lost some central weight, and went from 1.7 HDL to 2.7 HDL over a relatively short period, very little exercise as older and other health issues. This has continued for 2 years now.
