Oh dear me @Guzzler.... Sorry to say.... Been there and had to do that!! Was looking forward to it too! Don't hold your breath!! To me it was all about just plain old fashioned good sense!!! I only learned one helpful thing for me.... And that was from a fellow patient attending same course!!So, next phase... Sigh.
The local CCG changed the rules of referrals/treatment of a few conditions in my area. I was told at my last assessment by the brilliant consultant anaesthetist that this new system would leave his patients in pain and inevitably lead to the NHS spending more not less for treatments. He was so apologetic and yet angry at the same time.
What the CCG told all GPs and Hospitals in my area dealing with certain conditions that only two rounds of treatments would be paid for and then patients would have to be re referred for further treatment. Of old it has been a doctor who has discharged a patient back to a GP but now it is the CCG. What this entails is a wait for a GP appt. a wait while the referral is accepted another assessment then a wait for treatment. Two treatments and you have to go through the whole palaver again.
My last consultant anaesthetist said that this method would leave people in pain and needing more and more drugs at higher doses which is more expensive than the treatment that he and his colleagues offer. A treatment that for me gives 2-3 months of pain control.
Today I attended another assessment. This was taken by a nurse. A NURSE! This nurse who said her speciality was pain management thought neuropathy only applied to the brain and the neck. I kid you not. She told me another clause in the CCGs change of rules. Before any treatments are offered a patient must take part in a 'Wellness' course. This means a three hour session once a week for six weeks. This is to prove that a patient is motivated enough to help themselves! This course involves the dreaded 'Mindfulness' that has become a mantra for OTs. I swear I will slap someone if they tell me to go to my happy place. (My happy place usually was dancing on a nightclub table singing Uma Paloma Blanca with my shoes in one hand and a Black Russian in the other. Aahhh, the good old days).
So it looks like patients are being held hostage and made to jump through hoops. It is private companies that hold these courses, enough said about that. As my old consultant said, some sufferers will give up and opt for more expensive drugs. All the time (an hour) with this nurse today I just kept thinking 'I have said what works, just give me the treatment and stop going on about how your company can help me while charging the NHS exorbitant fees, you silly woman, you don't fool me'. A bit harsh but that is how I felt. I will have to do this stupid course and fingers crossed I might be happily surprised but I won't hold my breath. If not, it leaves drugs and more drugs from a GP not a consultant in spinal treatments for pain.
Aaaaarrrrrgh!!!
Is it cos getting colder weather? My Hubby suffers more aches with cold/damp0315, been awake for nearly an hour so got up and made a cuppa.
Legs ache, hips, back, elbows, hands and fingers.
Might have to take something if it doesn’t settle.
Now this needs looking into...and I am still waiting for a scan I do think it is true as you age and go over 70 they tend to let you suffer some I have never had this trouble before so maybe another visit to see the Doctor is in order trouble is I have to wait 3 weeks to get in to see my Doctor, everyone it seems wants to see him but seriously it is nto right that some oen can not wash them self due to pain in shoulders....It's got to the stage with Ron that I'm having to wash and dress him. He can't even use his wheelchair on his own now .
I think a combination of previous injuries, aging and cold/damp.Is it cos getting colder weather? My Hubby suffers more aches with cold/damp
Its the same at our surgery last appointment he had he waited 6 weeks to see gp and there still taking on more patience. Whenever something happens he sees gp and she refers him on to specialists . It's takes a weeks or more for referals to go out and then he waits weeks or even months to be seen. He's currently still waiting to see a dermatologist as the last one he saw in January no longer takes patience from our area . Yet gp wasn't aware of this . Ron is only 46 so I'm guessing if you have multiple problems drs don't want to know no matter how old you are .Now this needs looking into...and I am still waiting for a scan I do think it is true as you age and go over 70 they tend to let you suffer some I have never had this trouble before so maybe another visit to see the Doctor is in order trouble is I have to wait 3 weeks to get in to see my Doctor, everyone it seems wants to see him but seriously it is nto right that some oen can not wash them self due to pain in shoulders....
No worriesSorry! Not awake! @sablejan

Hope the aches are settling. As well as meds a 4" memory foam mattress topper helps me.... trouble is the side I tend to sleep, and also sitting to get dress is a lot squishier now. I've rotated it, turned it over & rotated it .... I've gravitated to the centre now....0315, been awake for nearly an hour so got up and made a cuppa.

Hi @Sable_Jan, can’t invest too much in a comfortable bed. We have 2 divans pushed together each with orthopedic box and memory foam mattresses and electric bases so that we can raise head and leg areas. It’s also at the right right height for placing feet flat onto the floor. Best bit of retirement stuff bought so far I think.Hope the aches are settling. Saw my regular gp today. He has given me a referral for diabetes foot clinic (podiatrist?) Id like to thank our forum GP for her advice too ( @Dr_Anders ) as my numb toe/underside of right foot experienced a trauma and I was totally unaware as I had no pain.
I forgot about my arm pains in the night and stretched my arms the pain was bad so much so that i must have moaned.... and I had put voltorol on my shoulders before going to bed arghhhhhh
Oh I've heard some stories. Especially in the era of discs going missing.Bureaucracy gone mad this morning. Apparently my stepson doesnt exist and must be a figment of our imagination.
And it may take 16 weeks for them to sort out his child benefit claim
I don't understand why "the moderator edited offensive term" was removed as an offensive word. It's a commonly used term, not swearing. Had to "reply" here as I don't know who moderated it....AAAARGGHHHH BLEEPING BLEEPING DUCKING STUPID IDJITS
