Based on my experience, I'd say that depending on the basal this is true. With the longer acting basals, this is probably the correct statement. With Levemir, it allows me flexibility in dosing. When I did DAFNE they split everyone's basal, they think it gives a flatter coverage.
Sounds like you're sickening for something. Hope you're recovering OK, Pinewood. Thanks everyone. Great idea, @noblehead - I'll try that out.
I'll be honest, as much as I want excellent control I already do so many bolus injections when "sugar surfing" and the thought of having to remember and inject my Lantus twice a day isn't something I am too keen about...but we'll see what happens.
Having commented about my Lantus I'm actually wondering if my NovoRapid cartridge is spoiled. Last night I had a total of 9 units of NovoRapid (over 3 doses) for only 50g of carbs, which is a crazily high amount given my usual ratios. Usually 4 units would more than cover that. And yet I still went to bed high at 8mmol and stayed at 6.5-7mmol over night. Hmmm.
