This LCHF diet is a disaster....

I bought braces for going out trousers and I bought onesies for laying around the house scratching. I kept the trousers that were just a tad tight at diagnosis. I wear them every time I go to the surgery so that nothing else is blamed for weight change. They are now of the "We are the diddy men" fashion but I don't embarrass easily.

Congrats on weight loss!

I only buy like 1 pair of pants (I wear jeans all the time) when losing weight.. You're right it can get so expensive!

Hey the thrift store is a good option! You can get nice used pairs of pants in new condition (dress or jeans) for like $5 or like 4 quid. At least you can in the states. Just make sure to closely examine all seams, the crotch, button , zippers etc. Make sure nothing is falling apart or broken.
 
I have lots of pairs of pants, as I like to wear a fresh pair at least weekly

As well as my trousers appearing to grow longer, and needing a belt, I also find that the sleeves on my t shirt have increased in length.!
 
Oooh I'm jealous! My weight doesn't seem to shift much whatever I do (hovering around 11st
) and I fluctuate between a size 12 and 14 (occasionally I have to buy a 16).

Well done on the weight loss, it's incredible.

I've gone down to the smallest notch on my belt and now have to keep punching another new hole in it every couple of months! I've also had to buy mostly new trousers (and jeans and shorts).

I'd also like to add a note for those people for whom LCHF has not aided in weight loss, not to despair. It took a while before I really started getting good weight loss, and that weight loss has definitely been sporadic.

The main factor for me with LCHF is that, at least when I'm not losing weight I am not putting it back on either! Previously with a low fat diet I could sometimes lose weight by making an extreme effort (possibly an unsustainable effort) over a period of several weeks. However as soon as that extreme effort stopped then the weight quickly returned.

TBH, with LCHF I do often go for a long time without losing any weight, but then I put in a big effort for a couple of weeks (high exercise levels and good dietary control), and then I lose a bit more. The difference for me is simply that the weight doesn't immediately return as soon as that high effort weight loss period ends. I just seem to be able to hold onto that weight loss much easier on LCHF.

I also find that it helps to eat plenty of non starchy vegetables (with added fat of course) instead of relying too much on foods like bacon and sausages etc (though I do also eat those things).

I spent three years with slimming world before diagnosis lost two stone and put one back on since last July, now 3 weeks since diagnosis, first week low carb and 5lb off already! Saving what I would have paid in fees for hopeful new wardrobe once I've lost a couple of stones again. I'm not hungry, not craving anything except ice cream and we located Danns ice cream here in Norfolk who does a diabetic range so looking forward to trying some tonight. What I do find is dreadful indigestion with the Metformin but bizarrely sleeping better, no longer getting up in night wide awake and hungry. Am finding testing blood sugar a bit of a pain as despite rotating fingers very difficult to get blood out but then everyone struggles to get blood out of me for testing so I'm not really surprised!
 
Although I have lost two stone in the last five years it has been gradual and I have still not gone down a dress size. The weight fell off my arms and legs and it's the wretched torso that won't leave. Admittedly I have fallen off the LC wagon many times but always got back on and I have managed to drop one of the db meds . So I feel that I am in the right direction and as others say at least if I plateau then I'm not putting any back on.
