This saddens and angers me.

That is so sad.Bullying happens all the time to those that are deemed 'outside' the norm.In her case it cost her her life,a tragic waste of a young life. RIP Emma.

oh my god that is just sickening ... I would hope that teaching staff could encourage children with any medical "difference" to be proud of who they are, not in spite any medical condition, of but just because every human is special and has the opportunity to be wonderful ... and also to teach the studen body as a general group that diabetes doesn't make you alien any more than wearing glasses or having red hair ... poor young woman and I truly feel for her family xxx

It makes me bloody furious! Have schools learned nothing in the past forty years? I was badly bullied because I was (correctly) perceived to be homosexual in the early seventies. Both pupils and staff joined in that bullying.

Ten years ago my nephew, who has learning difficulties was sent on "permanent work placement" at the age of 14 because he was being bullied at school. Effectively he was excluded from school while the bullies completed their education bullying someone else...

But we mustn't complain: at least most of the students completed their time at the schools involved successfully <spit>

RIP Emma. I send my condolences to her poor family. Me and my brothers were bullied also because my brother was autistic and wasn't diagnosed until he was 25. Now my son is autistic as well and it just makes me want to scream whenever I read of an injustice like this. I'm lucky, my son was diagnosed when he was 6 and has always had the full support of his schools. He's now 15 and is doing his GCSEs and even a BTEC in Drama at our local theatre. To think of what Emma's family is going through just because of an ignorant minority really makes my blood boil :evil: I know I'm the lucky one because my son is fully supported in whatever he decides to do, but my heart goes out to anyone who has been affected by this terrible tragedy. My sincere condolences to the family. My heart goes out to them.

My son was bullied at secondary school, not just because he was different because of his condition, but, he wasnt into sport and that sort of thing. He got to the point of seriously considering suicide twice. Once just before his GCSE's. Luckily, I picked up on there being something wrong and I contacted his Head of House who was very helpful and understanding , he was absolutely brilliant, and did all he could to help my son, he even came to the house during the holidays to talk to him, and us to find out how he could help. I feel so lucky that with his help, my son went on to achieve so much in his work life, and I am soooooo proud of him.

I do feel for this poor family, because I realise just how close we came to going through the horror they are going through.

Bullying is so rampant everywhere these days. It is so wrong, and, it is the innocent that have to suffer.

I knew her in Sixth Form College. I was shocked to see her on my local news and even more stunned to learn of her death, she was a lovely girl and a very talented artist.
