Testing 2 hours after a meal makes sense as it must give your body time to process you meal. But would it make a difference if I forgot to test 1 hour before a meal and tested a half hour before? Or even ten minutes before?

I wasn't aware of a set time to test before a meal for a type 2. The idea is supposed to be that you find out by how much the meal raised your blood sugar. Just before a meal is fine according to me.

The two hours after is, as you say, to give your body time to process the meal. It is also the only time with a recommendation from NICE and it also enables comparison with other diabetics.

Thanks, Squire. I don't know how I got that into my head - probably muddled with the mass of information that my brain is taking in at the moment.
