Hi

Posted this in the complications forum, but got no replies so trying here (hope that is allowed).

I was diagnosed type 2 in December (but suspect I had this for a while as my numbers were very high). The past two days I've had tingling/burning sensations in my feet- sometimes moving up to my calves.

Is this likely to be neuropathy? Is there anything else I can do other than try and manage blood sugar? According to my meter my average levels over the past 2 weeks are 7.7 - which is a big improvement on my diagnosis levels, so wonder why this has suddenly come on.

Any advice?

I think you can get even lower in morning blood glucose by counting the grams of carbs you eat on a day, keep it under 80 grams.. the easiest way is to eat breakfast without hardly any carbs like cheese and ham NO bread (or a lidl protein roll ) or bacon and eggs, or avocado with shrimps or with taco sauce or a squeese of lemon... or something else with protein and fats nuts like brazil-nuts a handfull of almonds or chestnuts ...

some people say that taking 850 mg of R-Alpha-lipoic-acid daily do help them not to get as much pain or tingling from neuropathy.

maybe it is neuropathy maybe not....

if you do a very fine job keeping your blood glucose down and also avoid higher spiking after eating like under 8, there are some where the beginning of neuropathy seems to go away again when really keeping ones numbers down on a daily basis..

you could also say yes to metformin if it agrees with your stomach...
I am actually very fine with using metformin..

Hi @Freema

Thanks for replying I'll look into that supplement.

I'm already doing very low carb - definitely no more than 30g a day - so think my numbers are just taking a while to come down. I had 2 readings under 6 today. I'm struggling more with the rise between waking and breakfast...

yes it can take some time to get down...especially the morning numbers

Perhaps have a chat with your GP as your symptoms could be anything under the sun not related to diabetes....... B12 deficiency for instance.
