I experience tinnitus daily - usually at night..It doesn't really bother me - a background annoyance more than anything. I just ate a dark chocolate oaty bar and its come on with a vengeance.. So I'm thinking sugar may make it worse.. ?

Aye, I read an article just the other day (sorry didn't save it). Higher bg can indeed worsen tinitus.

Edited to add.
The article was citing emerging evidence that it can worsen hearing overall.

My tinnitus was caused by direct damage to the auditory nerves. Blood sugar levels don't seem to have much of an effect it just caries on in the same relentless manner as it has done for the last 40 odd years.

I’ve read somewhere in here that metformin can cause it. Not sure if you are on metformin

Yes - reduced to 500mg daily (from 1g)

Kraft identified a link between high insulin levels (insulin resistance from carb intake) and tinnitus, rather than with high blood glucose levels.
Although, of course, the two things can go hand in hand.

edited for clarity.

I was dx'd in 2007 and as time goes by I'm finding it more difficult to understand and to control- an ongoing battle which I'm losing at this time.
