Prediabetes
(Copied from a Reddit thread). A drug approved to treat Type 2 diabetes is extremely effective at reducing obesity, according to a new study. | Tirzepatide, works on two naturally occurring hormones that help control blood sugar and are involved in sending fullness signals from the gut to the brain.

I am very hopeful for something like this as while I am slim pre-diabetic battling with intermittent fasting, low carb etc, we have a son that is very obese and (TBH) weak willed when it comes to dieting etc...he needs medical help.

I read about this today elsewhere. The researchers do state that weight can be regained once the treatment is stopped, so whilst an apparently attractive option, it's no silver bullet.

It is a member of the Glutide family of GPL-1 argonists. Be prepared to be a guinea pig since this drug started stage 3 trials for approval in April of this year, so to complete in 2 months shows they are relying on comparisons with its glutide brothers. They are currently recruiting for a 104 week (2 year) trial for safety. They are also recruitng for the CVE and cadio trials to see if there are any other benefits in respect of this drug.

The reports submitted to FDA were only for use as an obesity drug, and only give results of weight loss. they do not seem to have tested it with diabetics yet, and the trial did not measure glucose response. However it is being offered for diabetes users now, so this is a read across that was not tested in the trials.

Beware, that other members of this family of drugs has recently been linked to the incidence of thryoid cancer, and we have one forum member confirming this unfortunate side effect.

If I have a 5 mg vile of compound and inject 1 ml of backwater. How many units should I take to take 2.5 mg each week?

Hi @saintjamason & welcome to the forum

The moderator team have read & discussed your post and are not quite sure what it is you’re asking but from what we can gather you are asking for advice on dosage, unfortunately no one in the forum can give medical advice or tell you what dosage you need to take. The best thing to do is to speak to your doctor or the person who you see to help you with your diabetes.
