hi, new to this but here goes. I was diagnosed with t2 three and a half years ago then re diagnosed as t1 eighteen months later when my bg levels still refused to be controlled. My bg levels are still very much up and down and following an appointment with my consultant yesterday he has asked me to consider using a pump instead of my usual injecting regime. Has anyone any comments or advice on wether this is easier, better or made things worse for them?

The pump has evened out my "ups and downs" but they still do occur.

I think the pump is wonderful and gives me more control over my diabetes, rather than the diabetes controlling me. I wouldn't go back to MDI.

The majority of pumpers would say it's the best thing that's happened to them, but a tiny minority have found it too much to cope with and have decided against it.

Read up on it. I'd be really surprised if you decide against the pump!

Hi SusanJ and welcome to the forum

Most certainly the pump will help improve matters if your struggling with your bg control on injections, like what dancer has said read up as much as possible about insulin pumps before coming to any decision, you could start by having a look through the Insulin Pump section of this forum to see other members experiences of pumping insulin, also have a read of book Think Like a Pancreas as this discusses insulin pumps and the many benefits that can be found from using one.

Good luck and best wishes.
