Tooth out, exhausted!

Hi, is this just me? I had a tooth out yesterday, I had raging tooth ache all over the weekend, my dentist diagnosed a dying nerve and recommended extraction. When the tooth was out she discovered there was also an abscess underneath it and has prescribed antibiotics, trouble is now I just feel exhausted, I came home yesterday and slept for three hours, and today I just can't stay awake, my BGs are high which I expected, 15,7 this morning, 12.5 at lunchtime, but why do I feel so tired? I don't normally feel like this, I've had a tooth out for goodness sake, not major surgery! Good job I have this week off work! But I was looking forward to doing "stuff" and instead I just want to sleep!! Any advice appreciated
 
With blood sugars that high it's hardly surprising you are feeling tired. They are 3 times higher than they should be plus the infection. That equals not a good mix
Have you considered upping your insulin to bring your blood sugars down?
 
Thanks for the reply, just tested and back to normal at 5.7 so happy with that, just surprised at how a simple procedure has left me feeling

It's prob a mixture of both the tooth out and the infection.
 
Not surprised you were shattered, not just the bg's but I suspect suffering toothache all weekend, you didn't get that much rest..

Level's might have been due to the local Ani, as the dentist use a different one for diabetics that doesn't have any steroids but this is as effective a numbing as the normal one.. So they may have used the normal LA due to being an extraction..

When hubby had a tooth out last year, they use the none steroid version, he checked his BG before in the waiting room, but even before we got home, he had to treat an hypo..

Hope now the tooth is out, all will soon be fine..

Thanks for all your replies, I did feel really wobbly afterwards however I wasn't hypo, it just never fails to surprise me how simple things can have such an effect, I've had diabetes for 15 years and I suppose age might be a factor but everything from a cold to well, I suppose having a tooth out seems to be so much harder to deal with these days.
