I am going to the Philippines in March 2023 for the whole of the month. I take gliclazide medication. 80 ml with breakfast and 160 ml with evening meal. As the Philippines is 8 hours in front of the uk. How do I adjust my timings of the medication.

I don't take Gliclazide, but do take a time sensitive medication. I will shortly also be doing a long trip to a similar location.

What I tend to do is keep to my usual timings, as per my body, not the clock) on the outbound flight, then move my meds timing to the local time. Were I taking Gliclazide I would still do the same, but I would keep a keen eye on my blood sugars for the couple of days whilst my body adjusted to time zones etc.

Were you to end up missing a single I doubt it would be harmful, but testing and keeping an eye on things is important. If you find your numbers drop in your new location (whether by changes to your way of eating, increased exercise or whatever) please ensure you have something with you to treat a hypo. If your numbers go high, consider what you have been eating to see if you've been having more carbs than usual, and perhaps have a walk and drink plenty water to help your body process things.

All in all, just keep an eye on what your blood sugars are doing.

Enjoy your trip.
