Hi, so I’m from Northern Ireland and me and my partner are looking to go over to Australia for a few months to visit family. However I’m quite anxious about this because my insulin.. I’m not sure how getting a prescription would work over there ? And with the long flight aswell how would the insulin keep on the plane. Has anyone travelled far distances and have any tips or helpful suggestions ?

If you're going for "a few months" why would you need a prescription? It's perfectly possible to go 2-3 months without needing a prescription. If you don't think you're repeat prescription will last however long your planning on being away, see your GP to ask about getting a script that does provide enough supplies to last for your travels.

Take insulin in hand luggage. Put unopened insulin in a frio pouch. Once you get there, stick it in fridge (I'm assuming you're staying with the family you're going to visit). Simple.

Have a look at the JDRF guide to traveling with diabetes - https://jdrf.org.uk/information-support/living-with-type-1-diabetes/everyday-life/travelling/
