Treating lows

Definitely, the delay in trying to think of something you'd prefer is best avoided, much easier to have something you're happy to eat and do so straight away even if it's (sub-optimal) chocolate (in my case).

Depends.
I get stubborn with a hypo and I do not want to eat something I absolutely dislike.
So I'm better off with something I like and see as a treat, even if it works a tad slower.

I have to avoid anything I see as a treat, I will just eat it without need. Then when I do need it, I don't have any left.
I am hypo aware, so don't often get into dire straights and can usually head it off with a not too tasty bar of some sort.

I cant carry Jelly Babies......I like them too much and end up eating them :/ Guess what happens then.

Ah, that’s a very good reason. I hate eating the dextros, actually. If it’s not in the night time I’ll prefer almost anything else.

I’ve bought huge quantities of a bar called BeKind, salted dark chocolate/nuts, and get thro a lot of those. But they’re not as fast as dextros.

I had a hypo a couple of weeks ago when I was parked next to a blackberry bush with the juiciest, tastiest blackberries I've ever had.

Best hypo ever!

I prefer to have either a quick slug of Lucozade or glucose solution (that I make up at home). It's quick to act and doesn't stick to the teeth. I've had Type 1 diabetes since 1969 and think that if I'd used jelly babies or similar, my teeth would have gone rotten by now! Buying a single one portion bottle of glucose drink (as some people suggest) is quite an expensive option if you need them several times a week because your activity levels vary by very much (like mine!). I also carry glucose tablets with me everywhere. Take them with a slug of water and that works quickly too.
