Hi,
I'm recently diagnosed Type 1 and was just wondering if anyone out there allows themselves treats from time to time? I'm getting on quite well with low carb / healthy eating but the thought, for example, of never having a big fat curry or fish and chips EVER again is quite depressing! In fact I did have a curry last weekend (special occassion) and allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted. My BS didn't suffer as a result but should I be feeling guilty? I aksed a diabetic acquaintance the same question and she said no, she never eats anything she shouldn't :?

Either she was lying or she leads a very boring life! Of course you can have a little of what you fancy just give yourself a couple of extra units of insulin and keep an eye on your blood sugars! Type 1s are a lot luckier than type 2s in that way we can adjust for a treat in life!

Ah that's so good to hear!!! Need to get my carb counting under control, will definately get myself one of those books. Thanks for the advice both - really helpful.

Mines ice cream, oh if a woman brings me some she can do as she likes. Yea, been married 28 years and dont she know how to get round me.
