hi, anyone used the weekly injection trulicity? if so do you have any comments
thanks ian

I use it it's not insulin it's a medication Dulaglutide use it once a week. My blood sugar is always below 7 and it aids weight loss. Lot of people seem to have side effects but I haven't. I found best way to inject us stood up; just adding that as it's so much easier.

Dulaglutide is used with Metformin (usually) to reduce blood glucose levels and improve glucose control. It both slows emptying of stomach (reducing glucose spikes) and stimulates beta cells to produce insulin.
Removes need for insulin in some type 2s. Not for use by type 1s.
Expensive and some side effects similar to Metformin.

It is a glucagon like peptide type 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist class of hormone which the body uses to normalise glucose levels.

Hope this helps

I've just started this weekend on it. I'm taking it with Humulin M3 as I had problems with Metformin SR. So its 24 hours from first use and I do feel full since breakfast (porridge with mashed banana) at 7.30am this morning. Just done a pre-lunch test and my sugars are 7.9. which is brilliant for me! Was taken off dapagliflozin as it wasn't working for me.

I'll let you know how I get on....

So just to give a quick update. It's Wednesday and I had the injection on Sunday. On Monday afternoon at work side effects started to kick in with bad acid reflux, gas and nausea. I drank some ginger steeped in hot water when I got in from work and was still gassy, I guess my body was adapting. Didn't go in to work on Tuesday as I felt really off... and by 11am it was like a button had been switched and the side effects left its now Wednesday evening and I've been fine..... All cravings for sugar have now subsided and my appetite is suppressed and I'm not overeating as i feel
Full. Prior to trulicity my BG fasting was averaging between 7.5 - 9 most mornings now I'm down to 6.0 -7.5 and have reduced my Insulin down by 8 units a day. Dead chuffed as I never saw readings than 8.0 much. So far so good!

Hi I'm having an appointment 08/03/17 to review my months meter readings and discuss this drug further a little anxious about it

thanks for the replies, i was told about trulicity, but although my bmi is high enough to qualify my blood sugar is now 41 so i don't qualify, i was told i might be able to get it on a weight management program, got my review soon so will find out.

Hi, I experienced Acid Reflux today for the first time but yesterday had a bottle of orange juice. I recall last time orange juice upset my stomach so I think it's down to what we eat or drink that causes this. Banana is a natural remedy for acid reflux apparently which did calm mine down a bit. I don't get any problems usually. Steer off orange juice if you drink that or acidic fruits. Hope this helps

I had my first injection on Monday and felt so sick and unwellon Tuesday. Now I have really bad acid reflux and that’s making me feel sick. My appetite has reduced and I can’t eat a lot which is good but do always feel like I’m going into hypo every few hours

I have been on Trulicity for the past 4 weeks and from Tues my dose will increase to 1.5mg from 0.75mg and have lost 4 lbs in weight. I take Metformin twice a day and jardiance once a day. I'm quite excited about being on it as I need that weight loss.

When i first started on Trulicity 12 months ago i immediately felt full and all looked good. I’m on Metformin twice a day also.. But very soon it seemed to wear off and really didn’t feel like it was having any affect. Always got a few acid reflux issues with it and i’m on Omeprizol for that anyway i have been for 10 yrs sadly now though the AR seems to be getting worse, it’s especially bad when waking up from a sleep, as soon as i sit up it’s released and it’s not very pleasant..
