From what I have been told there are a couple of causes of pain in diabetes. High blood sugar can cause muscle stiffness and pains I believe and ofc if its just this then getting levels lower means the pain should go away. However if its due to neuropathy which is damage to the nerves then its a far more interesting question. Many on the forum have reported that there neurological pains have lessened since they have achieved better blood sugar control, however my neurologist told me that once the damage is done its not currently reversable, and despite getting better Blood sugar control than in the past I am actually getting more pain. Again some people have reported numerous other things including vitamin B12 have helped them, a word of caution however that sometimes you can get too much of a good thing and exceeding the RDA on some vitamins can cause damage rather than help fixing it vitamin B12 included I believe. If you are unsure speak to your doctor who can advise further and if needs be arrange further testing. There are a number of drugs that can be used to treat neurological pain however over the counter remedies such as Asprin, paracetamol and ibuprofen are ineffective against this type of pain.
