Type 1 children and their accomplishments

Hi

Lets use this space to celebrate all that is fantastic and achieveable by our amazing children. Zac is a great ice skater! What are your children great at?

What a wonderful idea for a thread!

Jess is good at swimming and art and although she's only been playing the clarinet for 5 months she appears to be talented with it. She has a wonderful, bubbly, happy personality and so often club leaders or teachers will comment about her being their "little ray of sunshine". She is also very caring and thoughtful always putting others before herself. She really is a joy to have around, we are very lucky to have such a wonderful child.
 
Khaleb is just lucky to be doing anything. He said the word "STAR" the other day. Khaleb is just over 3 and even though he knows 70 words in sign language this is his third spoken word. I'm also quite impressed with how he puts up with the finger pricking, blood tests and injections with barely a complaint.
 
what a lovely idea. I think we need to look at the positives. My son has a solo slot at our local civic hall last week.

Wonderful to hear so many positive things that our children are achieveing. No wonder Khaleb is saying the word "STAR" he clearly is one.

Keep the positives coming, we sure do need them.

Andrew makes us laugh every day, despite how he is feeling.
As a baby Andrew brought sunshine into the room with his infectious laughter and ready smile. As a toddler he was drawn to anything furry, especially if it meowed, and we now have 2 cats, 1 hamster and 2 gerbils.(when we got the cats as 3 wk old, abandoned kittens, i found him downstairs every night feeding the, at 3am)
He has never lost that infectious laughter, can still bring a smile to the grumpiest face and has such a kindly nature that i get choked up at the things he does. He regards elderly people with such respect, offering them his seat or opening a door, with out every being told to do so.
He loves his little niece and she adores him, prefering to sit on his lap, than anybody elses.
I know he is going to become a loving, caring adult, and i am so proud of him.

Despite her difficulties in accepting her diagnosis, Davina is a wonderful child. She is like Luna Lovegood and sees the good in everyone. She loves to sing and has recently been offered singing lessons and the opportunity to join a local Girl's Choir. She turned 12 yesterday and it was wonderful to spend time in her company.
 
dylan is my world he loves football swimming and taekwondo and is always so brave and gets on with everything with no complaint like so many of these wonderful children we are all so lucky to have

I have recently had a school report. Zac is the most talented composer his music teacher has ever taught (Wow). Zac plays the piano in school (his style is much more keyboard and jazzy though)
He is also exceeding in maths. I am so very proud.

Hi everyone,

Zac has just done 4 nights playing keyboard for his schools production-He was fantastic. Also he has passed his level 3 ice hockey skills. I am so very proud. What have your children been upto recently?

Khaleb did a wee down the vacuum cleaner air vent. Don't know if this is an accomplishment or not but it certainly took skill I didn't think he had. I can laugh about it now but at the time I wasn't quite so impressed.
 
Thats an accomplishment, lol. It would take good fine motor skills to do that.

My beautiful, irritating, darling Thomas scored 100% in his end of unit French exam and will represent the school running 800m tomorrow. He's got the brains and the brawn! And his teachers at school have no idea how much he has to cope with to achieve both of those things...There are currently 5 diabetic pupils. The SENCo and inclusion manager told me at our first meeting that none of those pupils ever have hypos at school. What does she know!
 
Davina got a glowing report at the end of last term. She has been put on the gifted and talented register for academic ability and was made a positive ambassador of learning - a scheme that rewards academic achievement in our school. I watched her in her first concert with the choir on Saturday and it was simply beautiful. She has thrown herself into her Guiding activities too and is so patient with her brother. I try to get her on every trip and outing possible because she deserves so much - even if her room is a mess!!!!

Ive got a lovely bright 9 1/2 year old whos just been diagnosed with Type 1 , he's such a wonderful boy who's come to terms with this quicker than we have. He loves football and plays in his local team and is one of their highest goal scorers. He loves school and at the moment unable to attend untill a plan is in action which he can't wait for. He's such a loving child . :
 
I was reading this thread again today and it reminded me that when I last posted Jess had just started out with playing the clarinet. Since then she has passed Preparatory Stage on the Clarinet and this week she has passed Grade 1 Clarinet. I'm so proud of her, just had to share
 
Dylan has moved up a swimming group since i last posted and is nearly ready to move up again , his teacher made the effort to go out of her way to come over to me and said i shall be sad to lose ur dylan when he moves up hes a lovely boy, i could of burst with pride on the spot lol diabetes?? what diabetes :lol:

That's really well done Dylan seems to enjoy his sport and I'm so pleased that diabetes doesn't hold him back with that. It's tricky trying to manage blood glucose levels with unpredictable and large amounts of exercise so that's quite an achievement.
