My husband has been type 2 diabetic for many years, not on medication as he's borderline now due to controlling his diet etc. but he suffers constantly with pins and needles in his hands, is this related? He's had numerous GP appointments and no definite answer as to what it is.
I'm type 1 and have been for 50 years, thankfully no signs of any problems so far.
Other causes could be poor circulation, which tends to get worse on cold days. Another possibility is a vitamin B deficiency affecting the nerves, but this would probably not be just the hands.
But GP is the best route to take since it could be due to infections or viral.
As said in the previous post, diabetes neuropathy is a candidate that needs to be considered since it goes with the territory.
