Hi there,
sorry you are feeling so yuk.
Are you keeping a log or note of what you are eating and your own bg testing results? Doing this even for a month will help you find out what foods higher your bg levels and what you can eat more freely.
Before I was diagnosed I ate wholemeal pasta or rice everyday but found once I started testing post meals that these two food items were causing big spikes. I now avoid both and enjoy a diet of around 80-100 carbs a day and better control. Many diabetics have even a lower carb intake some can have more than I do. You need to discover what suits you individually. Testing you blood and reviewing your food intake is a good learning curve when seeking diabetic control. Other things that can affect bg levels are stress, infections and exercise so do keep a note of any symptoms and changing of routine as well.
When were you taking the metformin? Did you take it with food? The tummy trouble should settle down after a while but most advice is too take it with a meal and not to become dehydrated whilst on it. Can you check with your GP perhaps if the medication routine can be altered to suit you better. If you are taking all your medi in morning, perhaps a change of time of day could help with side affects.
Please do not go without food all day, especially when your on medication as your bg could drop too low. Have a look on other forum topics to do with diet, medication and other ask a question entries, I am sure you will find other forum members have been in the same situation. You will get there but it takes time to find out what works and what doesn't. Although still around the 9 mark you have come down from 12.
