Type 2 prognosis

I was Diagnosed Type 2 last December and can keep my readings within the NICE recommended levels. As this is the case, will my diabetes still get worse as I get older (63 now) or with the same control will it always be the same, controllable??? :?
 
I believe in Tight[ non-diabetic level]control.
I have been dianosed over 7 years and am using LESS medication than I was in the first few months. I do keep my carbs LOW
It works for me, but isn't necessarily an easy road.
I haven't experienced progression or complications so far. I'm 63 now and very active
