When I was told that I was type 2 at first I was very upset about the hole thing I didn't know what to do I wasn't told anything about my condition I had to go online to read up on it now I'm getting the help I need I feel a lot better getting the information that I needed to get on with my life

WELL DONE for taking your health into your own hands @Mirror_man thank goodness for this forum and Dr Google, yes? I'm just like you, was type 2 for almost 10yrs getting larger and health not improving by following standard advice. What a revelation when I found this forum, so glad that you have found us too. Good luck for the future although I don't think that you will need luck, you are doing great things for yourself

Hi mirror man , I'm newly diagnosed 2 months ago , my local health service here in Wales has been helpful , I have had a half hour meeting with the diabetic specialist nurse and have appointments for eye test , 3 hour nutrition guidance meeting etc , unfortunately health service isn't standard or good everywhere , mental health here in Powys is shocking , I'm bipolar and I waited 3 years for counselling !

Hi @Mirror_man and welcome to the forum. It is a huge shock when we get that diagnosis. Like you I wasn't given much advice by my GP. I did get referred for a DESMOND day course for newly diagnosed diabetics, but although it helped the advice wasn't too good.
I have learnt more about how to control my T2 on here, reducing my HbA1c and weight.
You have obviously been pro-active in researching for yourself and finding this forum. Keep on reading the threads and ask anything you want. The people on here are friendly and supportive.

HI, I was the same until I started taking things into my own hands. With the help of pages and of course google I learn every day.
Keep coming to the forum as we are all one big family.
