Type 2

My main problem is my food at work has they supply sandwiches and sausage rolls and rubbish like this, so would like to take. Y own food but not knowing what is best for me is awkward

I used to take the contents of sandwiches out to eat and throw the bread away if there was nothing else suitable to eat - ham, cheese, tuna, salad extracted with a spoon or fingers. You could even eat the inside of a sausage roll although the cheap sausage filling does include carb heavy binders.

Take hard boiled eggs, pieces of cheese, a tub of salad, a tin of tuna, etc.
I wouldn't advise taking meat or fish unless you have a cool box or can put it somewhere cool. If you can then roasted chicken legs are good.

Eating out can be challenging when first diagnosed, I struggled because I just couldn't think of an alternative to a sandwich.
You just need a little planning and imagination,
Meat roll ups- any slices of cooked meat spread with cream cheese then just rolled up into a delicious sausage, one of my favorites is roast beef spread with horseradish and rolled around a spring onion, experiment find your own favourite. You can use lettuce as a bread substitute, wrap it around your favourite filling, pick it up an eat it like you would a sandwich. Cooked chicken, cooked sausages (high meat content sausage has the least carbs) make yourself a bacon & mushroom crust less quiche eat half for your dinner and take the rest to work the next day.

Hello and welcome @Anita sterry

I am sorry you are struggling. Eating can be very challenging following diagnosis.

I used to do what @TriciaWs suggested and just eat the contents of the sandwich. Nt necessarily perfect but a whole lot better than eating the bread. I also agree with the other suggestions of both @TriciaWs and @catinahat

It does get easier with time but know there are many people here who totally get how you are feeling.

Welcome to the forum and good luck
