Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I only used the Bayer Ketostix strips for a short while initially last year, and they rarely showed more than the first two colours then more or less stopped showing anything when I started burning fat in earnest. They just measure the waste ketones being flushed away so when you get into ketosis and start using them for energy you will usually see none or very few being disposed of in your wee. What I'm seeing now would be towards the more purple end of the wee strips if they were showing how many ketones were staying in my body.

I use this breathalyser type gadget (Ketonix) which is midway accurate between the wee strips and the very accurate and expensive blood test strips. It measures the concentration of acetone from my lungs.

This is such a coincidence, your talking about ketosis, as I got unnecessarily alarmed when I took a ketone reading with the blood test strips and then realised that I didn't really understand what it meant. My BGL was 4.8 and the ketone reading was 1.5. Luckily, @Indy51 came to the rescue with a great link, and I am a bit more clued up now. But now I'd like to know if the BGL is high, how dangerous is it to be in ketosis at all?

A disappointing 6.9 mmol / L this morning from a 5.0 mmol / L bed time reading.
Definitely get a better reading with better sleep.

Although I'd much rather be in the 5s the positive for me is that I stayed in the 6s.

Just read up on that stuff .... isn't available downunder but I'd be somewhat careful. As always, test and check. Looks heavy on a number of fronts.

Your results are really excellent, hold onto them. Your report card is looking very good at the moment , congrats.
 
An amazing 5.4 considering I had a carb attack last night, kettle crisps, payday bar and a lot more than a handful of Brazil nuts, won't be repeating it just a bad evening.

Keep well and don't follow my example.
 
5.2 again today. I should be happy with that but I've been in the 4s for so long before the last 2 days that I'm slightly disappointed
 
6.7 this morning, did doctors OK yesterday going to have some pollen allergy tests next time I go to chest clinic and am to add portion at night if pollen count is high
