I have been told that as a type 2 we should be aiming for readings between 4 and 7 ??? Is this wrong

Optimally it should be below 6 Helsk but clearly if your readings have been much higher then 7 can be good

For fasting I think the oft-quoted range for a 'controlled T2' is 5.0 - 6.7. The 4-7 range is for pre-meal levels.

Non-diabetics have fasting levels between 3.0 and 5.5, that's what I'm aiming at for now. Mid 4s would be nice.

Mine was 11.8 this morn ? Only been testing bloods for a few days so will keep trying foods. Could do with some tips on what people eat etc x thank you

On your intro thread most recommended to cut carbs, there are lots of ideas in the low carb section of the forum. Have a look at www.dietdoctor.com/lchf as well.

It's also crucial to make sure your fingers are clean when testing - the slightest bit of dirt, food or grease on your hands can contaminate the blood globule and spike the reading.

6.3 ( or 5.8- only two more pots to go!) this morning.

I've got three to go! I'm loathe not to use them though, so like you I mentally apply a correction. Let's hope for a drop when we change batches as per @AndBreathe!

5.5 this morning.......I'm ok with that, not gone above 6.2 during the day for over a week now -I've not been giving any thought to "the batch" but they are the ones I have also (one pot in use and one to go)!! Could be interesting to see when I order again this week!!

It's only really my fasting one that it pees me off a bit about as the others are all under 6 so I don't feel so bad about them anyway. Need to order some more soon so going to ask for ones that read on the low side ;-)

Just had an email pop in my inbox rod........you are the featured success story!! Where do we get an autograph?!!

5.0 this morning, not posted this week so a quick catchup on that for the last few days: 5.3/4.8/4.9/4.7/5.2/6.3. I don't know where that 6.3 from yesterday came from, this is my second highest reading this year- I was only 4.5 the previous evening, although it was a much later night than usual (but nothing too wicked consumed).
Also having checked I find that I have a batch of the "+0.5" codefree strips so all my readings have in theory been lower than shown over the last 6 weeks or so and I still have about 3 pots left.

Aaaarrrggghhh! Cover blown

5.7 this morning after going for an Indian. Chicken bhuna and cauliflower bhaji no rice or breads of course. Couple of diet cokes. Will I ever be able to have a Stella again? Miss it so bad!! But did not get to sleep until 3am due to my neighbours being away and their daughter having a party!! 5.7 has been the heighest for weeks, I seem to be between 4.8 and 5.7 irrespective of when I test, what I have eaten. Had a hba1c test on Friday, results should be in next Tuesday.
