Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.8 for me which sounds OK ... that's if it wasn't accompanied by wild and strange dreams all during the night and warm feet for the first two hours before I drifted off.
 
I feel for you. The bread and strawberry yogurt may have to go. Try palin yogurt such as total. It's . Low carb. Sorry but no experience with the ulcer
 
Sorry , postprandial is testing after your meal. If you search the site you'll fine info on Dawn phenomenon. Its when your liver dumps glucose into your system when your blood sugar levels drop but I think it depends if you are in meds or not. I didn't realise you were such a new member. Read the site inside out and you will know more than your doctor and nurses have ever told you since your 2001 diagnosis - anything you don't understand we'll be more than happy to explain. As you already may have seen @pavlosn is one of the best

It's 20 here today but rising to 32 by Monday. Easy to get warm, not so easy to keep cool
Mmm, rather TOOO warm for my liking. The 20 I guess I could manage but THIRTY TWO :***: - I can see why you may be envious of our 7 (well it is night-time) was a bit warmer earlier
 
Although the bread, fruity yogurt and chickpeas are the items with most carbs, I am not sure that alone they can explain the big rise in your sugar levels this morning.

I suspect that you are right and your ulcer is possibly the culprit!

I do not know too much about ulcers. What is the treatment for them, medication, diet, surgery?

I know it is frustrating to see high readings but I think that at this stage you need to be mentally prepared for them.

You just have to keep eating the right things and testing to see were you are - but also to see that you are not dangerously high. With a reading in the 20s I probably would have rushed to A&E.

It is probably checking your urine for ketones as well if you continue to run high levels of glucose. Drink lots of fluids as well.

All I can suggest is to keep calm, continue doing the right things and trust that things will improve with time.

Do go to the doctors and ask about the test for t1 as if you have been misdiagnosed and you are not t2 that could explain your high levels.
 
With not being able to test I don't know if roasted butternut squash risotto with feta cheese will be bad for the bs - highish carbs I guess with the rice and I've not looked up the butternut squash (never had it before - has the texture of a root vegetable but doesn't look like one in the raw). I was virtuous and only tasted the garlic bread that came with it. Anyhow my bedtime cocoa is made with soya milk tonight with a teaspoon of creamed coconut to take the "flatness" out of the taste and its really quite nice. Be interesting to know the "numbers" though - I thought it would be nice to get away from testing for a day or two but I'm getting withdrawal symptoms
 
Hi @stable-jan thanks i am starting to feel a bit better still quite chesty see what asthma nurse says tomorrow when she rings. I have been watching the carbs a bit but only slightly reducing them as i use lots of energy with my genetic condition. Specialist for that is really against me dropping carbs to no less than 75-80g a day min. But i have lost some weight, so will see what happens.

I quickly went from being Regular to Senior in no more than a couple of days........ at least it takes @pavlosn 's vision away

Pre lunch - after a good walk around town was 5.7, didn't test after as was tried and tested homemade soup.
Pre dinner 5.1 - didn't test after as tried and tested black farmers and coleslaw, raspberries and cream

A LOT of people on here have found that dropping the carbs (even against diet nurse's advice) has given them MORE energy - its useless having the glucose from the carbs running around in your blood if it can't get used by your system and is just making your blood sugar tests run high. Obviously I don't know your condition so couldn't advise - just my opinion of course - but I would suggest reading the low carbing posts on the forum - think there is a section devoted to just that? But if you do a search it will bring them up and @pavlosn is a very knowledgeable guy who explains things much better than I - his experience AND his insight and well - his English is better than mine and I'm English born and bred

Glad you are starting to feel better - forgot to add that to my earlier reply - I tend to reply "ar*e about" as my Dad used to say - answering the last bit first then working my way to the beginning - but hadn't gotten all the way when I "posted" my reply
