That did make me chuckle. The coffee shop I frequent is staffed by two transgender women , one of whom is quite masculine and doesn't always shave every day though the eyebrows and hair are always done up.. Wonder what chart shed have opted for then?Ye Gods Bluetit. That was an ordeal!
Scary.
My Mr B had a work physical last week. Surprised at how large the BMI was. Checked the figs and discovered that the young lady had been using the women's chart, not the men's.
Now, the man doesn't have a beard the size of a bear pelt, or exude testosterone like The Hulk, but he is 6'1", broad shouldered and turned up with 3 days of stubble.
I'm guessing the girl needs glasses.
Hi, Thanks for that peacetrain, although my figures at the outset were much lower than yours, what you describe above is not too dissimilar to what I am doing, maybe I'm not on so much fat as you and maybe have to increase it but I do eat all the meats. Certainly a great deal of veg's and lot of fish both oily like mackerel 3 times a week, salmon 2 x week and maybe some cod & tuna. I am not eating the bread every day like you, maybe twice a week 1 slice of seed sensations Hovis and a 1/2 Jacket potato is ok me. I may have to follow your lead I have never counted the Carbs I have all I know its low and my weight is still dropping. I can't move out of this regime as I had 4 new potatoes and a little pastry with gravy the other day, shot up to 11.3
I think you have reinforced for me, I'm not to far away from what I should be doing.
Thanks Neil

I think you would find a food diary/carb counting to be incredibly enlightening. At the outset, I was astonished and sometimes shocked by the amount of carbs in some vegetables. I absolutely love vegetables, and could easily eat a mountain at every meal, if that wasn't just plain odd!
I still eat loads of varied veg, with no intention of giving it up.
@AndBreathe what are the best/worst vegetables carbs wise?
I've never researched it as I've always thought the portion size didn't warrant it...
Neil, so have you put new potatoes, pastry, and gravy on your "to avoid" list, or do you intend trying less new potatoes without pastry and only a sprinkle of gravy? It's all trial and error. I love my spuds, so I kept trying with one less each time and no other major carbs such as pastry or gravy (I smothered them in butter) until I found my limit, which is 2.

5.7 this morning
I haven't really recovered blood sugar wise from my horrendous afternoon at the Health Centre yesterday. Trying to fast for my cholesterol test by missing lunch did not help, then being wound up by the inefficient new HCA that did all my tests, got my weight wrong by 5kg which I didn't realise till I got home so have to put that right when I see the DN. Got my height wrong by an inch, tried 3 veins to get blood and still failed so sent me down to see a "proper" nurse who managed first time, asked where I inject my insulin (!!!), was there 1.5hrs in total after being kept waiting, and hungry enough to eat a scabby donkey and all its hay. Not a happy bunny, totally pee'd off, so I had fish and chips with mushy peas for my tea and shot up to the 7's for over 3 hours during the evening.
The good news is, an HbA1c was included in the blood tests, which I wasn't expecting as it's not due till the end of the month. Results by phone on Thursday. At least my awful levels last evening won't get counted!!!!!!!
You'll beat those double figures soon - keep working at it, we're all with you12.1
Serendipity...... might not seem so great waking up so hot but the sweats did you a good turn in the long run - like my high BP - were it not for that I wouldn't have been picked up as prediabetic5.6 this morning- a little higher than of late. Was wide awake at 4am listening to the wind and rain here and feeling really hot, keeps happening- dreaded hormones ? Ironic as it is what prompted my visit to gp back in June and resulted in me joining the crew here!!
Not heard that phrase for ages7.2 here. Gutted after all those lovely 5's before and after meals yesterday
At least Monday's ultrasound indicated it could be my liver at fault and not my diet...
Happy Hump Day everyone
Isn't your post fish and chips reading pretty much what someone without diabetes would expect on such an empty tum?
Sorry @Bluetit1802 , my fault you had the fish chips and mushy peas - they must have been in your mind from when I mentioned about having mine on Monday.....5.7 at bedtime

Must be as old as me I was thinking......... not far out, you beat me by 2 years. Now HOW do I get that songReminds me of a Mary Hopkins song...those were the days my friends...we thought they'd never end.....VERY APT....
But at least you know the reason of the "why" they are. Forgive yourself and move on - a quote from a guy on Coronation Street years back "You can ruin a perfectly good tomorrow by worrying about yesterday, today......." so I guess in our terms if we had a high carb day yesterday we might just muck up tomorrows results by worrying about it today and putting our stress levels up affecting the bs.......Yes, at about an hour, but not all evening. A non-diabetic should have come down again faster than that. It was the fact mine stayed up there all evening that I didn't like, not the fact it was in the low 7's. I got away with a high spike, but my goodness it was a long one and is possibly what caused my before bed and fasting to be higher than normal at 5.7. Probably the excess fat causing it, but I don't know. I'm normally fine with just the fish and mushies. I was just greedy and pee'd off by tea time! (literally pee'd off with all those mushies Lol)
All my numbers so far today have been higher than normal.
